Alena Rose Solenne, M.Ed., Waldorf Certified Teacher

Alena received her Masters Degree in Education from Antioch University, New England. She is certified in traditional public school education, Integrated Learning, and in Waldorf pedagogy. She taught in both public and private schools before moving to Charlottesville, and taught at the Charlottesville Waldorf School for several years.

Alena has served the homeschooling community of the Shenandoah Valley since 2014 as teacher, private tutor, and evaluator.  She has taught a wide variety of classes at several local homeschooling cooperatives and through her own teaching business. She began Solenne Learning, LLC in 2016 with an aim to more directly serve the homeschooling population of Charlottesville and surrounding areas. Since then, she has come to specialize in teaching homeschooled teens and helping them transition to the next phase of their educations.

Alena has continued her own education in the various pedagogies utilized by different homeschool families, and prides herself on being able to work with a variety of homeschooling styles and value systems. Many of her students have gone on to enroll at Renaissance School, PVCC, and other local high schools.

Alena resides in Charlottesville, Virginia with her husband and their daughter. In addition to managing her teaching business and her family, she creates art in a variety of mediums including pottery, fiber arts, painting, and circus arts (fire spinning and aerial). She is also a certified Kundalini Yoga instructor. She loves to explore the beautiful mountains and streams of Virginia with her husband and daughter.
