Shakespeare Field Trip

We have a fabulous opportunity to take advantage of the American Shakespeare Center’s group education offerings, to round out our study of Julius Caesar. Our day will include a backstage tour of the theater, a specialized workshop on Julius Caesar, a break for lunch, and then the play, put on by a world-class Shakespeare company, in a recreation of his Blackfriar’s playhouse. Please make a final RSVP in the form to the right, even if you already said you wanted to come. RSVPs need to be submitted by April 23. I need to get the final headcount to them by that Friday. I would love some parents to come participate with us as chaperones and drivers. Teen/mature siblings are also invited. Everyone attending needs to pay for a ticket to the play. Here are the details of the day:

  • 9:00 AM— Depart Charlottesville (Drivers needed!)

  • 10:00— Arrive at Blackfriars Playhouse

  • 10:15-1:00 Julius Caesar Play

  • 1:00-1:15 Actor and Designer talkbalk

  • 1:15-2:00 Lunch (Bring a lunch!)

  • 2:-00-3:00 Blackfriar’s Playhouse Tour

  • 3:00-4:00 Workshop:

    • Our 60-minute workshop incorporates elements of our Embedded Stage Directions, Cue Scripts, and Blood workshops, allowing participants to follow clues in the text and concoct their own blood mixtures to explore the staging of one of Shakespeare’s most famous and challenging scenes – the assassination of Julius Caesar.
